Mga Madalas Itanong

How many concrete blocks do I need for a 100 sq ft wall?

For standard 8×8×16 CMU blocks: 100 sq ft × 1.125 = 112.5, rounded to 113 blocks. With 7% waste factor, order 121 blocks.

How heavy is a standard concrete block?

A standard 8×8×16 CMU block weighs approximately 28–35 lbs (13–16 kg) for normal-weight concrete. Lightweight blocks using expanded clay or shale weigh 20–25 lbs. Lightweight blocks are easier to handle but have lower compressive strength.

What is the difference between concrete blocks and cinder blocks?

Traditionally, 'cinder blocks' used industrial cinder (coal ash) as aggregate, while 'concrete blocks' use gravel, sand, or stone. True cinder blocks are rarely made today due to environmental regulations on coal ash. Modern blocks are concrete masonry units (CMUs) regardless of what they're called locally.

How do I calculate the perimeter of a foundation in blocks?

Measure the total perimeter length of the foundation in feet. Multiply by 0.75 to get the number of 8×8×16 blocks per course (course = one horizontal row of blocks). For a 60 ft perimeter: 60 × 0.75 = 45 blocks per course. For 4 courses: 45 × 4 = 180 blocks total.
